Beauty & style, fitness & nutrition, international affairs & diplomacy. This blog is a culmination of all my passions, but most importantly, it is a journal documenting my quest in becoming the most beautiful me I can be. ♥

    New addition to my blog!

While I may not be in the best shape, I always try and put myself together in a presentable, confident, and diva-like manner! Rather than having my entire blog revolve around the ups and downs of my weight loss journey, I have decided that I would like to post about other things that I absolutely love—accessories and makeup!

    Please stay tuned…Pictures are forthcoming!

So I bought this road bike 3 years ago…

…for $25 just as an interim solution to practice with until I get more serious considering the price for a road bike for a female my height is realllllly expensive, $800+.

I went to a used bike store on Saturday to just see if I could trade my bike in and pay the difference to get a new one. No dice, even old ass road bikes were being sold for like $400! I asked him how much he would value my bike at (old ass Raleigh Nottingham UK, circa 1980), he said “we’d probably sell your bike for $200 here.” I was thinking to myself, quietly of course, wow…I MADE $175 riding this bike for 3 years!

After browsing all the old road bikes that were out of my price range and after being convinced by the old shop owner that my bike is still good, i’ve decided to “ride it to the ground!” If I do get seriously into biking however, I will invest in a new bike either at the end of this summer or next…Stay tuned ;)

    Update!

Research paper…DONE! Now I have the whole weekend to relax and recuperate for work on Monday as well as the rest of April to focus on other interests like…getting hot for summer!!!
While I haven’t been able to have a workout yesterday nor today, I did walk over 2.5km to work both days. Perspective :) I’m just soooo happy to be done!

    Weigh-in

Sunday I weighed in at 183.2 and as of this morning I am 180.6. Let’s keep this progress going!

    Update…April 1

So to be accountable to my followers I guess I have to post my actual weight…

My best friend and I did a March challenge and committed to not weighing ourselves until April 1.

The results on the scale were not that spectacular, which I had guessed it would given the last two weeks weren’t so stellar.

My starting weight was 186 and today I was 183.2. Hold the applause…I know, I know…Terrible!

I’m not discouraged however…It’s just a set back. I’ve lost significant amounts of weight before, 50 pounds the first time in 2008-2009 and 40 pounds last year. What I am also quite good at is gaining weight back! One noticeable change from this month was my mindset. By putting the scale away I focused more on how I felt; working out to feel good and more energized and eating right to give me the essential nutrients.

Today is April 1…Started the day with a weigh in, followed by breakfast, groceries, and now i’m at home.

I have a majorrrr research paper due this week on Thursday for my Master’s class on mediation negotiation. I am actually interested in what i’ve planned to write about, so hopefully it isn’t too painful. It’s just getting through the 20 pages worth of b.s…

Right now laundry is on, I have a hair mask in, i’m updating my tumblr (while completely procrastinating my research) and drinking some peppermint tea. Not too shabby.

    Goal for April 1-7, 2012:
-Manage school stress by eating well and making time to exercise.
-Time manage, Time manage, TIME MANAGE.
-Don’t go overboard at Easter dinner(s)…both of them…

    Monday recap and Tuesday morning.
Monday started and ended well. This is my first mini victory in a LONG, I mean long time. I ate well all day, didn’t binge, and signed up to a new gym literally two minutes from my house. Additionally, I made an amazing dinner of baked salon, zucchini pasta, and fresh cucumber salad. I roasted a whole chicken in my crock pot over night and by morning it was so tender it fell off the bones. Delish. Tuesday has started off well also. Lunch is packed, I’ve taken my vitamins, drank .5L of water already and got all pretty for work. What will determine if I finish today successfully is if I can eat the 4 course meal my sister (chef @ 5 star restaurant) is preparing tonight without going over board. 1 serving of each thing is more than enough. I WILL beat this funk I have been in for the last NINE MONTHS. I will get back to the 140s…in fact, I’ll go even further. Just watch me.

    Give me the strength…

…to make it through today without binging. I have a healthy whole lunch packed and I hope to succeed today.
